The Difficulty Of Being A Casual Gamer In 2023

By Jude West

As you can tell by the title, I’m going to list some reasons why being a casual gamer is

so difficult in 2023.

People are way more competitive now.

Last night on October 3rd I was trying to play casually, which is easier said than done due to the vast number of people trying hard to win and making the game frustrating. Eventually, it leads people like me to leave the game and sometimes stop playing altogether.

Most of our attention spans have been ruined by TikTok and YouTube shorts.

This also makes it so that players want faster-based gameplay instead of the story-driven plots that casual players have had to cling to to stay alive in this rapidly changing fast-paced gaming world. Casual players have been flushed out of shooters and player vs. player games because people are playing like they are trying to earn money.

     Money.

The money gained off the game is usually a substantial amount and it forces players to compete harder to earn money and try their hardest to gain money. However, even off the tournaments these players still act like money is on the line and destroy casuals.

     The consoles vs. the PC.

Most casuals like to play on a console because it is cheaper and still runs the game that they’re trying to play. The PC players are usually competitive players who only care about frame rates and graphics. Also, PCs can run the game faster and have up to 240 frames per second which dwarfs the console's 60 frames per second.
