Christmas is a favorite and widely celebrated holiday worldwide, but not for everyone. Christmas is not the same in every household. If asked to describe how they spent December 25th, most students would say that on Christmas day they open presents with family and have a big dinner. They would likely also mention going to a grandparent's house. Unfortunately, most don't understand that not all people celebrate Christmas that way and some don't celebrate this holiday at all. Not everybody has a “family” to celebrate with. We tend to focus on our lives, our families, and our “things”. Sadly, most of us are not grateful for what we have and don’t take the time to remember that some people have nothing.

This Christmas, we should celebrate and be happy with our families and the presents we receive, but we should also be happy and grateful for what we have and remember those less fortunate. Maybe even take a little time and effort to volunteer at a food shelter or an assisted living facility. Beyond our personal beliefs, this season is about giving to others and being grateful/thankful for what we are so fortunate to have.
