September 11, 2001: one of the most tragic days in American history. 9/11 was the day that a terrorist group called Al-Qaeda hijacked four planes and ended up destroying the twin towers and ended up killing several civilians, plane passengers, and emergency personnel. This day has gone down in history and all of the lives lost will not be forgotten. 9/11 was such a tragic day that many individuals remember exactly where they were when the first plane crashed and how they felt at that moment. While I myself was not alive and could not give an accurate representation of the feelings of the people, my mother could. I interviewed her and asked her a few questions about that day. Here are those questions and her answers to them.
How old were you when 9/11 happened?
"I was 27."
Where were you?
"I was working at a group home."
What was your initial reaction when you saw what was happening?
"Disbelief and shock."
How did you feel afterward?
"Sad."
Did life for you change after the tragedy that occurred?
"Well, I was worried at first because we had family that lived in New York and then I found myself watching too much news to the point where I had to turn it off because it made me too sad."
Did life in America itself change?
"Yes, there was tightened security everywhere, public placed ended up being closed to the public for things like tourist areas in DC and New York, rescue workers went from around the country to help at the sight."
How do you feel about 9/11 now?
"It is a day that will always be stuck in my memory, watching people jumping out of windows and out of the buildings. It makes me sad still."
