Powell High School has been looking to update the school for the past 10 years. The plan
has been to move the office, expand the cafeteria, to the commons, and make the former office the guidance, college, and career office. Finally, it happened! They first broke the ground and began working on it in late 2019. It is now August 2021 and the project is still in progress, they are currently working on finishing up the guidance office, which should completely be finished by the end of October this year.
Another thing they’ve changed is they painted the walls gray. The gray walls give a
darker setting which gives a different feel to the school. They removed the concession stand,
increasing the size of the lobby and the staircase going up toward the cafeteria allowing students to not be as packed. Another improvement is adding the commons area, and reducing the old five lunch periods down to only three. The lunchroom was very small but now with the commons, there are two different places to eat lunch. Lastly, the entrance to the school has been moved, containing a big staircase leading up to the office making the school more appealing. All of the new improvements to the school have changed the appearance of the school for the better. If you’d like to see the changes go to our “Video of the Week” and you can take a tour with me.
