College football; an incredible time to hang out with family and friends, which usually includes some of the greatest stories. That's the case this year for Appalachian State. Two weeks ago, Appalachian State traveled to Texas to play Texas A&M. This was supposed to be an easy game for the Aggies, but the Mountaineers had different plans. Often in College football, a bigger team will pay a smaller team a lot of money to travel there and, most of the time, lose. In this case, the Aggies paid Appalachian State 1.5 million to win. Appalachian State fought with Texas A&M and won by 3 points, with a final score of 17-14. Coming off of a big win like that they had all the confidence in the world going into the game against Troy. It was a very entertaining football game with ups and downs the whole time. Troy was on top most of the game and it started to not look good for the Mountaineers. In the 4th quarter, the score was 28-24, and Troy was leading. It was looking like this was Appalachian State’s last chance. It was a slant and a missed catch until their defense went out and got the ball back. With 2 seconds left and 55 yards to go, they threw a Hail Mary, which was caught off the block by number 13, Christian Horn. This is a good example of why never doubt yourself, even when you're playing with confidence. Everyone thinks you're going to lose, but you go out there and win. This year so far has been the Appalachian State's Cinderella story.
