Being a senior in high school is tough. This year we are expected to decide what we will do with our lives by picking a career path to follow and going to a college that can teach us how to excel in that career path. We need to be able to dazzle these colleges and employers. We need to show not only our knowledge but also our extracurricular activities and the skills we are expected to acquire for jobs. We need recommendation letters from people who have made significant impacts on our lives so far. Just thinking about these things on top of what to do after high school causes a senior’s stress level to skyrocket. It is scary thinking about what we will do when our parents are not by our side and can no longer guide us. Before taking that next step in our lives, we have to think about what we want to do for a career and if we could make a living in that career path. Soon after that comes applying for colleges that fit the career path we are interested in. After applying, we need the money to pay for our schooling. We start filling out scholarships, adding all of the wonderful qualities we have acquired over time and the sparkling achievements we have earned throughout our lifetime. On top of all of this planning for the future, we are trying to maintain jobs, complete school work, make time for our families and friends, and to manage everything so we do not have to sacrifice one for the other. It is important to not let this stress consume you to the point where you can no longer enjoy your senior year. It may seem like we are supposed to figure everything out in this one year, but it is not that simple, we have our entire lives to fine-tune our career path, and it is never too late to change your mind. Go through your senior year prepared for the extra responsibilities that will arise; however, make sure to have fun and appreciate your final year of high school.
