━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is from October 1st to October 31st. Breast cancer is a serious problem in the United States. Besides skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common type of cancer found in women. Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a time of year that is set aside to draw attention, educate, and raise money to further the research of finding a cure. According to cancer.org, 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer sometime in their life. It is estimated that roughly 281,550 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in women this year alone, and about 43,600 women will die from breast cancer. National Breast Cancer Awareness Month was founded in October of 1985 as a partnership between the American Cancer Society and the pharmaceutical division of Imperial Chemical Industries. As of current, there are 3.8 million breast cancer survivors in the United States. To combat this, there is a program called Buddy Check. This program asks women to find a friend and encourages them to do a breast self-exam once a month.
