In Chesapeake, Virginia, if you are over the age of 12 and go trick-or-treating you could be in for more of a trick than a treat. Since 1970, the town has had a law that penalizes teenaged trick-or-treaters. The teenagers could receive a fine of between $25 to $100, or they could even face jail time. No one has ever been arrested under this law that ultimately aims to scare off teens from crime on Halloween. Still, after a viral parody video earned the policy bad press, the town said in March that the rule would be revised. I believe that this rule is slightly overboard because teenagers should be able to trick or treat as long as that's all they're doing. If the teenagers aren't breaking rules and getting into trouble I believe they should be able to roam freely.
