Christian McCaffery Trade Drama

Christian McCaffery recently got traded from the Carolina Panthers (where he's been since he was drafted in 2017) to the San Francisco 49ers. This trade left a lot of buzz around the NFL, and especially by 49ers rival, the Los Angeles Rams, and their head coach Sean McVay. Sean McVay also made a big effort to get McCaffery and was very upset because he has had his running back Cam Akers on the sideline trying to find a new team for him. The Rams saw McCaffery in Week 6 when he was still with the Panthers and he put up 154 yards on them. Former Panthers running back arrived in San Francisco on Friday and played with them Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs and did pretty good for not knowing all of his teammates and the plays yet. He put up a total of 158 yards. This trade is very exciting for the NFL and will be interesting during the draft because in return for McCaffery the 49ers gave the Panthers a second, third, and fourth-round pick in 2023 and also a fifth-round pick in 2024. It will be interesting to see how Christian McCaffrey plays with his new team and if Carolina will regret trading him. I personally think the 49ers won this trade. It will also be interesting to see what Sean McVay does with Cam Akers because he stated “I’d like to think I’m a very open-minded person. But I think you look at certain situations and scenarios with the way that things have kind of unfolded, as of right now, I think the best option for all parties would be to explore if there’s a good situation for him with another team.”
