Christmas is right around the corner, and people have begun decorating their homes with colorful Christmas lights. These lights bring the holiday spirit to life and can be spotted everywhere when driving by a neighborhood. Incidents can turn your Christmas joy into Christmas sadness. Thousands of injuries have been reported from falls while installing Christmas lights and because the lights caused a fire. For example, Christmas lights on Christmas trees can be extremely dangerous in some conditions. Some ways to make sure your lights won't be a hazard are to check if the light looks damaged. This can easily result in an electric shock and, potentially, a fire. Using indoor lights outdoors can also be dangerous because specific lights do not work well with moisture, snow, and rain. Overusing the wattage of the plug, in use for lights, can also lead to a problem. Even leading a chord through a window or door can cause pressure on the wire that can cause an electric fire. Simply knowing how to use decorative lights, can save your home from a fire or someone getting an electric shock. So decorate and be safe.
