Homecoming Experience As A Freshman

Giselle Cruz Cardoza

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Homecoming activities were something new for me as a freshman this year. I got to experience pep rallies, parades, the homecoming game, powderpuff, and the homecoming dance. However, Powderpuff was canceled, but I learned all about it through friends. I quickly knew that on game days there was a pep rally in the morning, but on homecoming game day, we had one in the morning and one in the afternoon. This parade was more than I initially thought it would be. I am part of the girl's soccer team, so I was part of the parade. Walking down and throwing candy made me feel like the team was getting recognition. The weather was pretty nice that day, and everyone, in general, seemed to be having a good time. Afterward, we had a pep rally, which took almost a whole class period. For me, seeing school spirit was something I never really experienced this much. Everyone was showing Panther Pride by wearing their homecoming shirts and participating in chants as other students and teachers played games. I never knew that this was something that almost every high school did. I also attended the homecoming dance, which was also a fantastic experience. At the dance, they had a place where you could take pictures with your friends and small-sided games and snacks.
