The week of October 18th-21st is Powell High’s Homecoming week. Here at Powell High School, we have many festivities. First off, we have our dress-up days: Monday- Jersey Day, Tuesday- Christmas in October, Wednesday- Country vs. Country Club, and finally Thursday- Class Shirt.
Monday-Wednesday we have the Canned Food Drive and the Chain Links. They will be set up in the Commons Area from 8-8:20 collecting cans. The Chain Links will be sold during lunch in the Commons Area. They are 25 cents each and you can buy as many as you want. All purchased links will be linked together and then during the Thursday pep rally the chain will be pulled apart. The purchased link that breaks will be the winner and that person will win a $50 Visa gift card.
There are also class banners and hallway decorations. For the class banners, some students from each grade are to make a big banner and the winning banner will be hung up at the Thursday Night Football Game. The hallway decorations are to be done Monday afternoon and the judging will take place Tuesday morning.
On another note, we have our pep rally games and girls powderpuff football game. The games consist of a water sponge game, hula hoop contest, football throw, and a 3-legged race. The Pep Rally is being held during the 4th block Thursday after the community parade. The Powderpuff game is to be held Friday the 22nd. The Freshman will play the Juniors and the Sophomores will play the Seniors. The winners of those games will play each other to see who our overall winner will be.
Lastly, we have our Homecoming Dance Saturday, the 23rd. Tickets are being sold in the commons during the morning and during lunch. They are $15 for a single ticket and $25 for couples tickets. The dance starts at 7 pm and ends at 10 pm.
