Managing Sports With School

For many student athletes, juggling sports and academics can be difficult. My brother warned me about this, as he is a graduated student athlete from Powell High School. I never really had this issue in middle school, so I brushed the thought away. I later realized, as a freshman, that I would need to be able to learn how to do this. In addition to school and athletics, everyone has out-of-school responsibilities to manage. It can be challenging to maintain a social life outside of your sport. As a both varsity and junior-varsity soccer player at Powell High School, I'm trying to learn time management skills. I've played soccer my entire life, but since high school started, school has become more demanding. You may receive homework to complete, but you also have practice right after school. In most cases, you can not use a sport as an excuse to not do your work. I discovered that I need to use my free time proir to other classes to begin the work and go over it to know what I was learning in advance. Also, I have started working on my work when going to faraway games and back. Personally, as an honor roll student, my grades are important to me, as is soccer. I learned how to take useful notes throughout middle school, which I could easily review the next day if I did not have enough time to study the night before. These smart habits have significantly decreased my procrastination.
