Panthers Orchestrate Outstanding Performance Against the Wildcats

Staff

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

If you’ve been to any of the football games this year, you had to have noticed the hunger and determination that the team has. Last year’s state championship just wet their appetite for more. On Friday night PHS dominated Oak Ridge and destroyed the Wildcats' dreams of advancing further in the Class 5A football playoffs in a 43-13 quarterfinal win on Friday.

Quarterback Jordyn Potts, who will be wearing a Tennessee Tech Golden Eagle uniform next season, conducted the Panther's offensive orchestra which performed a brilliant allegro resulting in over 442 total yards. Potts launched the ball through the air for over 250 of those yards. Sophomore running back Connor Wheeler bobbed and weaved through the Wildcat defense for over 132 yards on the ground, while Gianni Magdos cradled six air-delivered presents from Potts for a total of 120 yards and two touchdowns. Senior wide receiver Ayden Green, who will be taking his talent to the University of Cincinnati next year, joined the party by dancing on the checkerboard dance floor three times.

The Panthers, who are 11-2 on the season, will line up against the West Rebels (13-0) this upcoming Friday night in Scarbro Stadium at 7:00 PM. This game is a rematch of the semifinal game last year. Zip your jacket up, put your gloves and hat on, grab a leftover turkey sandwich, and meet me at Scarbro Stadium in Powell this Friday night at 7:00 PM to cheer the Panthers on.
