PHS Lockers... Go Big Blue?

Are the lockers at Powell High School being used or are they just clutter in the overly crowded halls? Many of the lockers are sitting and collecting dust in the hallways. Between the probability of forgetting things in the lockers and the time students have to change classes, students find it more beneficial to carry a backpack. Students avoid the frustration of leaving necessary materials in their lockers and getting in trouble for having to go back and forth between the classroom and lockers by carrying a backpack. Students find it easier to have everything they need with them the whole day considering most textbooks are on their Chromebooks. This also results in the hallways being less crowded. With lockers, people constantly stop and talk with their friends, causing the hallways to be crowded. When the hallways are crowded it makes it difficult to make it to class in the six-minute time frame students have for class change. Students who have classes on opposite ends of the school already struggle to make it to class in time with all their school supplies on them let alone when having to stop at a locker and change out materials. It would be more resourceful to remove the lockers to make more room in the narrow hallways. Oh, and why are the lockers blue, while Powell’s colors are black and orange?! Our trash cans match the school’s color theme, but our lockers don’t? It would be more convenient to have the lockers taken out except for a few left for students that do use them. Removing the extra lockers would widen the narrow hallways making class change more efficient. If that can’t be done – how about a new coat of paint?
