Quinceañeras

By: Miguel Mendez

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

A Quinceañera is a very important day for Hispanic women. It is a celebration for when girls turn 15. When they turn 15 they become a woman. It is very special to them because they can only have a Quinceañera once in their life. In a Quinceañera, the Quinceañera has a choice to choose chamberlanes, damas, or both. The chambelanes and damas are the Quinceañeras closest friends and they are usually very special to them, they are a very important part. This is all by preference. The Quinceañera also gets to choose a pretty dress to wear at the party. A Quinceañera has Walt’s dance and a surprise dance. There are multiple surprise dances, it depends on how many the Quinceañera wants. Usually, there are recuerdos, they are like wedding favors and they go on each table for someone to take home. In a Quinceañera there is a dance circle that people make, they put on different songs to dance to and everyone has a good time in the dance circle. I interviewed Giselle Cruz Cardoza and Anna Mata Sanches, they are both having Quinceañeras and you can find more information in their video:
