On Halloween in 1974, Ronald Clark O’Bryan decided to take his children trick-or-treating, around a couple neighborhoods. The friends Ronald was with said that he had pixie sticks shoved up the sleeve of his jacket which he had given to five different children, two of them being his. His 8 year old son, Timothy ended up asking for one first, when he tasted it, he said that it tasted bitter and not right then ended up dead an hour later. They found that the pixie sticks were filled with cyanide. None of the other children ended up eating theirs, although one of them tried but their mother said that he couldn't have it that night but could eat it after school tomorrow.
After this happened a lady named Elizabeth Bagwell moved into the house that Ronald and his kids lived in. She stated, "Someone took it upon themselves to take away the trust and fun from a lot of parents and children." Parents throughout the world were saying that they would never celebrate Halloween again.
Later after the incident, police found out that Ronald had just taken out the life insurance policies for his children. In court, he was still claiming that he was innocent but it took the jury less than an hour to convict him and an hour and five minutes to sentence him to death. He was executed on March 31, 1984, 10 years after the death of his son.
