Senior Sunrise

Brooke Hammond

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

For the most part, senior year is about making memories and having the time of our lives. Everyone looks forward to senior year and the final days they will spend with their friends before graduating. Many people celebrate these last moments with school traditions; football games and other school-sponsored events. Powell High School hosts a senior sunrise every year. On August 29th, senior students wake up and head to the school early in the morning, watch the sunrise with their senior class, and celebrate the beginning of the last year of high school. Senior Kylah Brooks said, “It was a great opportunity to view the beautiful sunrise with my senior class. It would be amazing to have the entire class of 2023 there watching the sunrise.” Senior sunrises usually start with the students meeting on the football field with blankets, their sunrise dates, and their phones in hand taking pictures of the beautiful scenery. I also talked to another senior, Avary Sanford, and she said, “Senior sunrise was great this year, everyone who came enjoyed themselves and the sunrise.” The overall event was a success and a great way for the senior class to feel like they were involved in school activities and all the traditions that come with being a senior. Even though it was extremely early, it was nonetheless still an exciting event to celebrate how far our senior class has come and what they have in store for the future. Senior sunrise was just the start of our senior year, and I cannot wait to keep making fun memories with my senior class.
