September 11, 2001

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

On the morning of September 11, 2001, the entire world held its breath. Every September 11th since then, people everywhere will stop to remember that morning. 19 terrorists associated with the Islamic extremist group al Qaeda hijacked four airplanes, thinking only about the suicide mission ahead of them and what they had to do to accomplish it. They somehow were able to pass through security with weapons and mace, board the planes, and ultimately take the lives of thousands of Americans.

The terrorists gained control of the aircrafts by killing the pilots and some of the flight attendants and then threatening passengers with a bomb; however, the bomb threat was only a bluff. The terrorists had different plans for the planes that day. Their strategy was to crash all four planes into different buildings, killing themselves and as many people as possible. The first plane, American Airlines Flight 11, crashed into the North Tower of the World Trade Center. Flight 175, flew into the South Tower of the World Trade Center. The third hijacked plane, American Airlines Flight 77, crashed into the Pentagon. Meanwhile, people all over the world were watching this unfold live on television. Thousands of people knew about this attack, but only a select few could help. Others could only watch the news and hold their breath, hoping and praying for the best. Passengers on board the doomed planes tried to contact their families and a few did get in touch with their loved ones and have one last conversation with them. Together they were trying to figure out what was happening. Passengers on flight 93 tried to regain control of the aircraft but only caused the hijackers to fly the plane into the ground in Pennsylvania. Over three thousand innocent people lost their lives that day. No one ever imagined that September 11, 2001, would turn into such a horrific event; but we are sure that the world will never forget.
