As the first semester of the 2024-2025 school year comes to a close, it's crunch time for students intent on achieving academic success. Here at Powell High School, several members of the student body are dedicated to tackling advanced classes in preparation for college and life beyond. Classes such as AP Calculus, AP Statistics, AP Literature, AP Physics, and more enable students to strengthen their learning and potentially earn college credit. Though beneficial, these challenging courses can impose incredible amounts of stress on students. Luckily, the school provides various tools to help these students on their climb to success. Counselors such as Mrs. White and Ms. Bri assist students with college applications and scholarships. Additionally, several extracurricular activities are available through the school to alleviate students' stress and provide them with a fun outlet to express themselves.
Specific students like Grayce Barnes are particularly devoted to securing a successful future. Barnes has taken honors and advanced placement classes since freshman year. With a current GPA of 4.5192 and an impressive ACT score of 32, she is on track to be the potential valedictorian. When asked what motivates her, Barnes stated “My family and my desire to be an aerospace engineer has always been a key factor in my academic success. I've had such an amazing support system that has continuously encouraged me in my endeavors to be an engineer.”
With about a month left in this semester, it is critical for students to stay committed to their academics. Staying committed to school isn't just about making good grades; it's about building a strong foundation for your future. The hard work you put in now will help you develop skills that will benefit you throughout life and ensure your success.
