Student Spotlight: Joslyn Tafoya

By: Breanna Naysmith

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

There are more students at Powell High School than just the starting football team and all star cheerleaders. Joslyn Tafoya is a Junior here. She lived in New Mexico for 12 years until she moved to Tennessee. Moving here has really impacted her life. She says it has “created an environment of growth for her and allowed her many opportunities.'' Some opportunities that have been introduced to her are better options for closer colleges and a safer living area. At school, she participates in Colorguard and her favorite class, Singers. She favors her Singers class because that class is like a family to her and she can always rely on them. Out of all the things about school, Joslyn enjoys lunch time because she can see her friends and socialize. In her free time she can be seen and heard playing guitar. She is always open to playing new songs or anything she comes across. When Joslyn grows up she wants to be a veterinarian because she loves animals and she likes caring for them. She is thinking about going to Chattanooga State Community College then transferring to UT along her route to becoming a veterinarian.
