Studying Tips

By: Aiesha Patel

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Many of us struggle with finding a way to study. I’d like to share some ways I study and how they help me succeed.

Index Cards - With vocabulary, I get index cards and I put my words on the blank side and I put my definitions and examples on the line side. This helps me better understand my vocabulary and get them down. I at least study these cards for 20-30 minutes every two days so when my test comes I will be prepared.

Detailed Notes - Another way that helps me study is taking a lot of notes then reviewing them. This also helps me with remembering what I need to learn for the test.

Be Colorful - Another idea is while I’m taking my notes I like to use color so I am not trying to remember something with just bold inks. You can use red, and blue if you don’t like to use other colors, but this mostly helps me focus more instead of staring at the same color for each word. Those are some ways that help me focus and to study better.

Find Your Space - My perfect area to study is in my room where it is completely quiet. I also think studying in quiet places helps you more because you are not as distracted as you would be when there is noise around you. There are many more areas to study like at a desk, at a library, in coffee shops, etc.

Feed Your Brain (and stomach) - I also feel like getting a snack before you start can help so when you are studying you don’t only think about food.

Those are my tips for helping you study better than before.
