A woman named Sarah Boone was accused of killing her boyfriend Jorge Torres in Orange County, Florida. She called the police on February 24, 2020 after seeing that he was unresponsive. When police arrived at the scene Sarah said they had been playing a game of hide and seek while drinking when Jorge went into the suitcase to hide. She claimed that she had fallen asleep because of the alcohol which led to him being stuck in the suitcase. Eventually he suffocated and now Boone is facing 2nd degree murder charges. Later police discovered two videos on Sarah’s phone of Jorge begging to be released from the suitcase in which an affidavit was granted for use in court. There is much speculation surrounding the idea that she was being abused and acted in self-defense. In the videos Jorge says, “I can’t [expletive] breathe,” to which Sarah responds, “Yeah, that’s what you do when you choke me.” The defense is using this to try and get her out of as many charges as possible. While we won’t hear any news for a while (the case just now continued after being delayed due to Hurricane Milton) we can all wonder what was truly going through her head when these decisions were made.
