Teacher Spotlight: Kristi Jeffers

By: Nick Estes

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

I had the chance to sit down with Kristi Jeffers who is a teacher and coach here at Powell High School. Ms. Jeffers started teaching here in the fall of 2013. She enjoys engaging in conversations with her students and her favorite class to teach is economics. She has 5 siblings but is closest with her twin sister who she talks to every day. She describes her best friends as kind and willing to help her whenever she needs them; she also said that they would put up with her at her best or worst. In her free time, she runs with her dog, reads, and trains for triathlons. She is challenging herself to read more books than her sister. She gets inspiration from those around her who were not afraid to take chances and build the life that they wanted. When asked to describe herself she said she was a perfectionist, empathetic, competitive, introverted, and dedicated. Her friends described her as empathetic, structured, and relentless. Something that has impacted her life the most was being a first-generation college student she said “Education has opened doors to me that were not available to other members of my family.”
