The First 48

 By Yasmine Anweiler

The First 48 is my favorite TV show. The First 48 takes viewers behind the scenes of real-life investigations as it follows homicide detectives in the critical first 48 hours of murder investigations, giving viewers access to crime scenes, interrogations, and forensic processing. Detectives in major cities in the United States race against the clock in the wake of homicides, knowing that if they don't find a lead within the first 48 hours, their chances of solving a case are cut in half. The program shows how detectives use forensic evidence and witness interviews to help identify suspects. The show shows me a lot physically and mentally. The cameras show the actual crime scenes and only blur out the victims who have died. Mentally it shows me how quickly life can change and people can change or even show no remorse for their actions. The show is on A&E Network, and the first episode date came out on June 3, 2004. The cities that The First 48 are filmed in our Memphis Tennessee, Tulsa Oklahoma, Miami Florida, Phoenix Arizona, and San Antonio Texas. Some people wonder if The First 48 is staged. As others have explained, its name derives from the first 48 hours after a homicide, in which the chances of the case being resolved drop 50% after those two days. While they blur most of the gore, the stories are not only real but often devastating.
