What Does The Andrew Tate Ban Say About Media Censorship?

Ghostwriter

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Andrew Tate, former world champion kickboxer, social media influencer, and success coach, has been banned from various social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube for violating company policies on dangerous organizations and individuals. Before being banned, Tate had 4.7 million followers on Instagram and over 730,000 subscribers on his YouTube channel called “TateSpeech”. Many out-of-context soundbites and clips of Andrew Tate speaking have been shared to give him a bad reputation. Following the ban, Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan have moved to the censorship-free platform called Rumble.

Many people, including celebrities and other influential people, believe that Andrew Tate is a misogynist. Their opinions are based on the constantly shared out-of-context clips. In an interview with Piers Morgan, Tate debunked these claims. For example, he said, “I certainly believe that men and women, when they work together, are the most beautiful force on the planet. I believe in family. I believe in children.” Tate also believes that it is a man's duty to protect and provide for women.

Others also see Andrew Tate as a dangerous person, influencing the youth and other men negatively, but this is far from the truth. While being interviewed by Piers Morgan, he was asked, “Should young men, though, all aspire to be like you?” Tate responded, “Should young men aspire to work very hard, have no criminal record, become multi-millionaires, protect and provide for the women close to them, be sovereign, so they can stand up and have their own points of view in face of cancellation, be able to not be mentally intimidated when they go on national tv, and there’s traps set up for them? Yeah, I believe that confident, strong men, who stand up and protect and provide for women, are a good thing for the world and a good force for the world.” This response shows that the media had smeared his image and portrayed him as misogynistic, but he is confident in his beliefs and won't let people's opinions affect him.

Following his social media ban, in an interview with PBD Podcast on YouTube, Tate was asked, “So why did Andrew Tate get banned?” he responded, “They did not tell me. They did not send me an email. No correspondence. I certainly didn’t break terms of service. I guess is why they couldn’t send me an email and explain why….” Tate, and many others, believe that these bans were unjust. Later in the interview, he described how he was first banned by Meta, the technology company in charge of Facebook and Instagram. Then, right as his strike on YouTube was about to expire, which would have allowed him to upload, his account was banned. Then he was banned from Discord, Airbnb, Skype, Uber, and even some UK-based banks. This “cancellation” of Andrew Tate shows the media's power and ability to silence those who they do not agree with.
