I work at a restaurant in Downtown Knoxville. On game days, there aren’t many people there, but Alabama game day was one to remember. When the fourth quarter started my coworkers and I were nervous. The game was intense because the scores were so close. The Vols won 24-17! About 15 minutes later we started getting calls as to how long the wait would be, how busy we were, etc.
People started coming in, and we filled up fast. It was mostly parties of four and up. People were coming in and sitting down at the bar, and the bar filled up quickly so people ended up standing behind other people at the bar. It was crowded! The other host who works with me had to clean off tables while I was constantly putting people on the waitlist. It was CHAOS, people were everywhere, it was hard to get through to people and nobody would budge.
This one Alabama fan came in and sat down at the bar and was drinking water. After a few minutes, he got up and ran to the bathroom. We have two bathrooms with only one fixture in each. Unfortunately, someone was in there. He then proceeded to throw up all over the door and doorframe. The management kicked him out and as soon as he was outside he threw up right outside our front door.
There was a group of people who came in and wanted a table for ten, but to be able to seat them at least half of their party had to be there. When we told them our policy they started complaining and getting mad. Other people were coming in and started offering money to be the next table up because of how long the wait list was. That night was one of the busiest nights I've ever had to deal with.
