━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Youth camp is one of the most wholesome and bittersweet parts of the year. Young cheerleaders from ages four to eleven come and learn material from the Powell High School cheerleaders. There are typically three instructors per group of young panthers. This camp is three days long. The first two days you teach the girls a cheer, a dance, and three chants. On the third day, you show all material to parents and the other groups at the camp. After all the youth camp groups perform, the Powell High School cheerleaders show rocky top and do a pyramid. This makes the young girls so excited because they get to see their leaders perform something of their own. This camp hits close to home because most of us attended these camps for many years and looked up to those high school cheerleaders. For most of us, that was our dream at the time. It comes full circle when realize we are those high school cheerleaders, and we now have these young girls looking up to us, wanting to be in our spot one day. It is truly the best feeling to lead these girls and share the love of cheerleading with them. From learning cheers to taking a popsicle break, and even playing a game of little sally walker, these memories will last a lifetime. These youth camp girls will one day be called Powell High School cheerleaders, and they will be teaching their own group. They will too realize that they have made it to the point they have wanted since they were just a little girl. Youth camp holds such a special place in all of our hearts.
